Personal Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Playbook

Our newly developed Personal Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Playbook will help you implement a personal CGM program within your practice, whatever its size. The use of personal CGM provides people with diabetes the ability to see trends in glucose direction and to make treatment decisions to influence the glucose outcome, which offers the potential to limit/prevent hypo and hyperglycemia. This playbook includes a step-by-step approach to implementation, additional resources, and the latest research. It was developed in partnership with the Association for Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES).

2020 Practice Insights Global Edition

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) partnered to conduct a two-part program in Abu Dhabi during September 2019 that included pharmacist educational programming and an expert panel discussion and roundtable on pharmacy-based immunizations. The program’s purpose was to foster the global expansion of pharmacy-based immunization practice by equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to establish a successful immunization practice. The program had a special emphasis on approaches to improving immunization rates in high-risk populations.

2019 Practice Insights Global Edition

In 2018, APhA convened an international, interprofessional expert panel at the 78th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Glasgow, Scotland, entitled Creating a Successful Pharmacy-Based Immunization Practice. This publication provides panelists’ perspectives from the FIP World Congress on the value of improving access to immunizations through interprofessional collaboration, approaches to overcoming barriers/challenges, and steps that can be taken toward effectively implementing pharmacy-based immunizations.

Practice Insights: Insulin, Prior Authorization, Utilization Management

In 2017, APhA conducted a survey and convened a virtual advisory panel to explore the impact of “nonmedical switching” on the care and treatment outcomes of patients with diabetes. This report summarizes survey findings from 364 pharmacists, and presents results from eight expert panelists on nonmedical switching and utilization management.

Pain Relief in Brief

The Pain Relief in Brief is a practice tool used to guide pharmacists in assessing patient complaints of pain, selecting analgesics that are appropriate for patients, and educating patients on appropriate OTC analgesic use. This helpful pharmacist resource tool is supported by an independent grant from McNeil Consumer Healthcare.

Pharmacist-Patient Guide and Treatment Options for VHTG

The Pharmacist-Patient Guide is a practice tool for pharmacists that offers current, efficient and to-the-point clinical information that can be quickly and easily incorporated into busy practices the very same day. This guide and accompanying informational webinars are intended to (1) update pharmacists on treatment of very high triglycerides (VHTG) and (2) assist pharmacists in counseling/educating patients with VHTG on the use of prescription omega-3 products and dietary supplements.
