APhA offers digital desk copies in new relationship with NetGalley

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) today announced a new relationship with NetGalley. Effective January 1, 2014, NetGalley will be the exclusive distributor of digital desk copies of APhA’s publications for academic and professional review. Through the NetGalley website, www.netgalley.com, pharmacy faculty will have limited-time access to APhA books and products.

“APhA is excited to collaborate with NetGalley to ensure pharmacy faculty have access to high-quality digital desk copies,” stated Karen Tracy, APhA Senior Vice President of Integrated Communications. “Digital access enables instructors to rapidly evaluate the usefulness of APhA’s respected list of textbooks and references for their classroom teaching.”

Over 250 publishers worldwide use NetGalley. Reviewers, bloggers, media, librarians, booksellers and educators can register for free at NetGalley, and request digital galleys from the catalog, or be invited to view a title by a publisher using the NetGalley widget. Once approved by the publisher, NetGalley members can view secure digital galleys on all major reading devices and tablets.

“It makes sense for publishers to use digital desk copies to reach faculty and reviewers more quickly, and cost effectively,” said Susan Ruszala, NetGalley’s President. “We are very much looking forward to working with APhA on this initiative.”

APhA publishes over 50 titles which include professional resources for pharmacists, textbooks and pharmacy technician resources. APhA’s high-value publications include the Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs; The Pharmacy Professional's Guide to Résumés, CVs, & Interviewing; and Radiopharmaceuticals in Nuclear Pharmacy and Nuclear Medicine.
