The American Pharmacists Association proudly announces the formation of its inaugural Hospital and Health System Strategy Council. This distinguished group of pharmacists and pharmacy residents is charged with providing APhA guidance as it develops tools, resources and unique member benefits for pharmacists and leaders in hospital and health system practice.

APhA Executive Vice President and CEO Scott J. Knoer, who is also former Chief Pharmacy Officer at Cleveland Clinic, signaled his desire to strengthen APhA’s hospital and health system membership and resources earlier this fall upon hiring APhA’s new Chief of Staff, Rafael Saenz, who is the former Chief Pharmacy Officer at the University of Virginia Health System.

Knoer said, “Many in Washington and across our profession look to APhA as a voice for all of pharmacy. I want to state, very clearly, that APhA does not just represent one segment of the profession, but all of pharmacy. This council will help strengthen us in an area where we have been underrepresented.”

The inaugural council will consist of 16 pharmacists, 2 PGY2 health system pharmacy residents and 1 APhA staff member.
