American Pharmacists Association and Elsevier Announce Publishing Agreement

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) has selected Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, as its exclusive publisher, promoter and distributor of APhA publications Pharmacy Today, Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, and Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This change will be effective from January 1, 2016.

APhA's editors will retain complete responsibility for the editorial content of each publication, while Elsevier will be responsible for publishing and distributing all print and electronic editions. The publishing agreement will allow APhA's journals to remain competitive, broaden their audience, and increase their impact.

Working with APhA and the editorial teams of the respective publications, Elsevier will offer a range of enhancements including options for online content innovation including interactive and multimedia features within articles, links to services to allow authors to monitor the impact and usage of their articles, and metrics to evaluate the global impact of the publications. Members of APhA will have online access to the publications and a mobile app also will be developed to enable access to all three publications via smartphone and tablet devices.

Pharmacy Today is published 12 times per year in print and online format. It is the association's monthly Patient Care Services Practice journal offering readers profiles of practitioners who employ innovative Patient Care techniques to effectively serve their patients. The Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, published six times per year in print and online, contains original research papers and opinion pieces. The Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, published monthly as an online-only publication, contains original research papers, invited topical reviews, and commentaries.

"Our publishing relationship with Elsevier will take APhA's publications to the next level," said Elizabeth K. Keyes, Chief Operating Officer, American Pharmacists Association. "As a leading global publisher, Elsevier will ensure our journals remain leaders in the field, while keeping us up-to-date with the publishing trends and needs of our authors and readers."

Chris Baumle, Executive Publisher, Elsevier said, "We are very pleased to add APhA's highly regarded pharmacy and pharmaceutical science publications to our portfolio. We look forward to working with APhA's editorial team to further enhance the publications and their services for authors and readers."
