Professional Connections

mentor_1.pngMentor360 – Professional Connections is where enthusiastic pharmacists who are interested in one on one mentoring are paired with experts to discuss a topic of mutual interest. It’s a great opportunity to develop trust and a deep professional connection that can benefit both the mentor and mentee in many ways. Mentor360 is an APhA member benefit and free to all pharmacist members.  Student Pharmacists are not eligible for this program.

Enrollment for the July-September 2018 cohort is now open.

APhA Ambassador Program

Joining APhA is the first step to settling into your professional home, but what comes next? The APhA Ambassador Program connects experienced APhA members with other members who want to become more engaged in the Association or who have a question about specific APhA member benefits. Any APhA Pharmacist member can seek out an APhA Ambassador to help answer quick questions, learn generally about opportunities to get involved, or gain advice on how to customize his or her personal APhA experience.

APhA Ambassadors have years of experience as engaged APhA members and each can provide a unique perspective to inform your journey - regardless of how long you have been a member of APhA. To find an APhA Ambassador:

  1. Visit the Mentor360 page at http://engage.pharmacist.com/mentoring.
  2. Follow the steps on the page to enroll as a mentee.
  3. Search for a mentor by selected "APhA Ambassador" under the Mentoring Relationship Type category.
  4. You can browse the profiles of the available APhA Ambassadors, select one that aligns with your questions or interests, and send a request to connect.
  5. Your mentor will reach out to you once that request has been made!

In addition to the APhA Ambassador Program, APhA101 is a series of short videos to help you learn about the many opportunities, member benefits, and inner workings of APhA. Watch one - or watch them all - to help you navigate the organization and get the most from your APhA membership. Your APhA Ambassador can also help direct you to APhA101 videos that may be most relevant to you!

Practice Collaboratives

mentor_2.pngAPhA’s group-based mentor program focuses on bringing pharmacists together to fuel innovation and progress toward advancing pharmacy practice. Practice Collaboratives bring together a 2–4 person panel of experts on a defined topic area to serve as mentors to a small cohort of pharmacists (10–20 people) interested in learning and refining their pharmacy practice in the given topic area. Interactions between the cohort and experts will occur virtually via webinars and a closed community on the APhA ENGAGE platform where mentors can share their tips for advancing practice and pharmacist participants can ask questions to help break down barriers to their successful implementation. Information on upcoming practice collaboratives will be available soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

How and when do I sign up?

Mentors and mentees have a designated window to sign up and be matched. It only takes 5 minutes to complete the online application form in its entirety. See application dates above. During the application process, mentees can view the mentors available and reach out via email (outside the system) to find out if there is a mutual interest. We do our best to accommodate everyone.

Do I need to be an APhA Member to participate?

Yes, you must be an active member of APhA to participate in the APhA Mentor360. Please note that student pharmacists are not eligible for the program. Not a member?

What can I expect from participating?

At the start of your mentor match you join a kick off call and one call at the two month mark and a final call at the end of your mentorship match. Mentees will complete a form upfront to use as way to focus the mentorship period. We recommend mentors and mentees spend one hour connecting each month.

Does my match have to be local?

No, you can be matched with a member from across the globe. Just find your preferred communication method -- phone, Skype, email, or whatever you like.
