APhA-ASP Regional Member-at-large Position Description

As a regional officer, the APhA–ASP Regional Member-at-large is responsible for responding to the needs of the general membership within their APhA–ASP region. They work to ensure adequate communication between chapters in regards to membership, patient care, and APhA–ASP/IPSF activities. The regional member-at-large position provides student pharmacists with opportunities to increase their involvement within APhA–ASP on a regional and national level, interact with students and practitioners from across the country, and have an impact on the future of pharmacy through active involvement in APhA–ASP.

The regional Member-at-large also has the opportunity to attend the APhA–ASP Regional Officer Meeting held each January in Washington, DC, and has responsibilities at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition and APhA–ASP Midyear Regional Meeting.
 

Activities throughout the year

Each regional member-at-large maintains intraregional communication with chapter leaders regarding a variety of APhA–ASP activities by utilizing the regional newsletter and Facebook events. In addition to these duties, the regional member-at-large is responsible for coordinating the APhA–ASP Member Recognition Program. The APhA–ASP Member Recognition Program was created to encourage chapters to recognize an outstanding member at a regional level. The regional member-at-large coordinates program specifics and provides information regarding the program to chapter presidents and advisors within each region. 
 

APhA–ASP Regional Officer Meeting

The APhA–ASP Regional Officer Meeting is typically held the first full weekend of January in Washington, DC. At this meeting, the eight regional members-at-large receive training in all aspects of their responsibilities. They set goals, develop timelines, learn about APhA and APhA–ASP programming, develop their presentation skills, and discuss new ideas.

In addition to providing the groundwork for the year, the meeting also provides an opportunity to network with other APhA–ASP Regional Officers, the National Executive Committee, and staff. Full reimbursement for meeting-related expenses is provided.
 

APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition

Regional members-at-large serve as the APhA–ASP Reference Committee, making recommendations to the APhA–ASP House of Delegates on the proposed resolutions. They also serve as alternate delegates to the APhA House of Delegates, and as hosts for the APhA–ASP Welcoming Social.
