What more can we do to promote ABCS?

I commend to your reading an excellent Executive Perspective article in Public Health Reports by RADM Scott Giberson, BSPharm, PhC, MPH, the Chief Pharmacy Officer for the U.S. Public Health Service, about pharmacists’ roles in achieving the ABCS (Aspirin therapy, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management, and Smoking cessation) goals put forth in the Million Hearts campaign.

The big-picture point for me is that pharmacists are making a huge difference. For those of you doing the good work, keep it up. And maybe a few more will be inspired by the great work being done to expand our efforts. Collectively, our work is making the point that when pharmacists get involved in medication use, quality goes up, costs go down, and outcomes improve!

Thanks, Scott!
