November Health Affairs spotlights pharmacists

The theme of this month’s issue of Health Affairs is redesigning the health care workforce, and two articles are focused on pharmacists.

Marie Smith and colleagues authored "Pharmacists Belong In Accountable Care Organizations And Integrated Care Teams," and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy CEO Lucinda Maine is the lead author of "Pharmacists And Technicians Can Enhance Patient Care Even More Once National Policies, Practices, And Priorities Are Aligned" (note that viewing the full articles requires a subscription or payment).

Both of these papers echo APhA’s priorities in advancing pharmacists’ services in team-based care and raise the challenges caused by lack of provider status. Both articles will be very useful in our provider status and other practice and advocacy efforts.
