Going global: Sharing U.S. advocacy efforts on an international platform

Not long ago, former APhA President Steve Simenson and I were invited to share our perspectives on U.S. advocacy in an article for the International Pharmacy Journal, the official journal of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

We jumped at the chance to write the article because not only are we proud of the quest to secure access and coverage for our patients to pharmacists’ services, but we are just as enthused about state and national pharmacy organization collaboration and wanted to tell the story.

As we wrote about how pharmacists in the United States are making great strides in achieving wider access to pharmacists’ services, I was reminded that what we are doing here at home influences activities all over the world. Pharmacists from every corner of the globe are on the same journey. We are all focused on the same goal—for pharmacists to be on the health care team and recognized as health care providers.

I encourage you to check out our article in the March 2016 issue of FIP’s International Pharmacy Journal. The article can be found on page 28, and here’s the link: https://fip.org/files/fip/IPJ/IPJ_341_FINAL.compressed.pdf
