Pharmacists: Step up to the Team Care Challenge!

Do you have innovative ideas to promote team care? If so, read on to learn how you can get your ideas recognized on an important stage and make a difference for your profession. Take the Team Care Challenge!

Sponsored by the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) and the American Resident Project, the Team Care Challenge (visit https://medstro.com/groups/the-team-care-challenge) is a call to action to all U.S.-based clinicians (including pharmacists!) to submit innovative ideas that promote higher quality team-based care by involving the entire extended care team, including family and caregivers.

As we all pursue greater recognition of pharmacists’ value, we need pharmacists to showcase their skills in inter-professional practice. This is yet another opportunity to show the world through the lens of the PCPCC the things that pharmacists can do!

Five finalists will win trips to Washington, DC, to present their ideas at the PCPCC's 2015 annual conference in November. I’d be thrilled if pharmacy was represented!

The deadline for submissions is September 27th. For more information about the challenge and how to apply, visit https://medstro.com/groups/the-team-care-challenge.

Thanks to the efforts of so many, pharmacists today are transitioning from solo health care providers to increasingly valuable, contributing members of the health care team. From rounding with medical staff in hospitals to collaborating with primary care physicians in the community, pharmacists coach patients, provide patient care and drug information, and make medication recommendations that improve patient care.

Despite our best efforts, we’re still significantly undervalued and underutilized. Your participation in this challenge could just change that!
