Mandela’s eternal flame

Last night, the eternal flame of South African Nelson Mandela began to burn. Our flag at APhA, together with all the flags in Washington, is flying at half-staff, in his honor. We have much to learn from his exemplary leadership, as a fiery activist in his early years, and later, despite 27 years in prison, as a kind, good-humored convener and negotiator who brought radical interests together and changed the world forever.

"Good will always battle evil, but men must choose good."
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (1918–2013)
