New members join BPS board and a “nod” to volunteers!

I recently received a news release from Bill Ellis, who heads up the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), on the talented folks who are joining the BPS Board of Directors. We're so pleased to welcome these highly qualified and nationally recognized health care leaders to the board! I know their presence will contribute to BPS's successful implementation of strategic goals in 2014.

Recent Remington Award recipient William E. Evans, PharmD, will serve as a Non–Board Certified Pharmacist member of the BPS Board of Directors. He is Director and CEO of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Andrea A. Iannucci, PharmD, BCOP, will serve as a Board Certified Pharmacist member of the BPS Board of Directors. She is an Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Clinical Supervisor, and residency director of a PGY2 Oncology Specialty residency program at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.

Both Evans and Iannucci were appointed to an initial 3-year term on the board.

We're also pleased that Sheila A. Haas, PhD, RN, FAAN, was reappointed to the board and is willing to serve. She will serve a second 3-year term as the Non-Pharmacist Health Professional Member.

And now the “nod.”

For many, volunteerism is a mystery. They don't understand why people spend countless hours in service to their profession. Yet BPS and APhA are blessed with literally thousands of volunteers who work to make our profession more meaningful in health care every day. Let me just say thanks to you who work so hard to give back!
