WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) announced a partnership with iForumRx.org, an interactive web-based community for ambulatory care pharmacy specialists, to produce a new line of recertification tools centered around podcasts, panel discussions, and polls. This new line of products is a part of APhA’s Ambulatory Care Recertification Program and will provide the latest evidence-based ambulatory care content in formats that help board certified pharmacists earn recertification credits without having to spend large amounts of time away from their practice.

“The APhA and iForumRx.org collaboration offers an excellent way for busy practitioners to stay current with the primary literature,” said APhA Vice President, Professional Education Resources, Daniel Zlott, PharmD, BCOP. “The iForumRx.org contributors are board-certified ambulatory care pharmacists who work in the trenches every day and provide insightful comments about how the latest research findings should be applied in practice. The succinct literature summaries and podcasts are easily digestible ways to stay on top of what is important to the care of patients in ambulatory care and community pharmacy settings.”

These new offerings have allowed APhA to re-imagine how board recertification products are provided. “APhA is looking to make the board recertification process more convenient for certified pharmacists by breaking sessions down into smaller pieces so that you don’t have to devote hours of uninterrupted time to maintaining your certification,” Zlott added. “If you’ve got 30 minutes, you can complete a module. We know pharmacists are busy, and we’re striving to make maintaining or preparing for board certification fit into their schedules.”

APhA, a professional development provider for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification in ambulatory care, produces various continuing education programs for ambulatory care-certified pharmacists so that they may earn the required 100 hours of BPS recertification credit towards the renewal of their BCACP certification.
